REGA ENERGY stands out as the only biomethane producer at FNA in Portugal
REGA ENERGY took part in the 61st edition of FNA – Feira Nacional de Agricultura (National Agriculture Fair), held from 9 to 15 June at CNEMA – Centro Nacional de Exposições e Mercados Agrícolas, in Santarém, Portugal, where it had the opportunity to share its vision and projects with agricultural producers and other partners.
REGA ENERGY’s stand, making its debut at this year’s FNA, received numerous visitors, reinforcing the dialogue between the company and the agro-livestock sector — a key partner in developing biomethane projects. The use of livestock effluents to produce this renewable gas is a perfect example of circular economy, generating both energy and organic fertiliser that can be reused in agricultural operations.
Biomethane in the spotlight
The role of biomethane in promoting sustainable agriculture and decarbonising Portugal’s natural gas grid was also discussed on 9 June during the seminar “Biosolutions in the Agri-Forestry Sector”, organised by CAP – Confederação dos Agricultores de Portugal (Portuguese Farmers’ Confederation), held in the main auditorium of CNEMA.
Nuno Delgado Pinto, Head of Biomethane at REGA ENERGY, participated in the event, where national and international business leaders, agricultural producers, and experts debated sustainable alternatives for energy production, soil fertilisation, and crop protection.
Ongoing projects
As highlighted by Nuno Delgado Pinto, REGA ENERGY’s mission is to “accelerate the development of a sustainable industry in Portugal through the production of renewable gases, such as biomethane.” One of the projects currently under development is located in Sousel, in the Portalegre district, and was presented in February to dozens of local agro-livestock producers.
“Biomethane production units are environmentally sound solutions that connect hard-to-abate industries with agriculture through the national gas grid,” he noted, adding: “With REGA ENERGY projects, we bring together Environment, Agriculture, and Energy.”
On 11 June, REGA ENERGY — the only biomethane producer present at the event — hosted a social gathering at its stand, creating another opportunity to promote the company and its projects, and to build potential win-win partnerships. It is worth noting that this year’s edition of FNA welcomed around 180,000 visitors.
